I'm personally against the formation of lots of little alt.splinter
groups for different robotics areas given that there's so much in
common between different robotics fields and, at the moment,
relatively little research related traffic (subsea or otherwise) on
comp.robotics anyway.

On the other hand, I'm definitely for the formation of the recently
proposed comp.robotics.research in order to try and separate out the
research from the electronics (and encourage more research posts), and
I think that if that goes ahead then it would provide the group that
you are looking for. I would guess the CFV is due in the next couple
of weeks?
