Global market share 1994 for large industrial robots:

ABB 39 %
Fanuc 18 %
Yaskawa 16 %
Kawasaki 11 %
Meicoei 8 %
Kuka 8 %

But who is the leader in terms of technology, innovation, and use of
robotics in new applications? John Feddema asks in an introductory
article to last years ICRA workshop on visual servoing why industry is
so slow to make use of new research results.

Would be interesting to hear from somebody actually in the robotics
industry what they think of the future. What areas of present research
will have the most impact on future robot systems etc? I think
there is plenty of room to become the new industry leader!
