Personal Robotics Survey 1/30/1995

If you have a working robot, or a mostly working robot, not just a dream,
please fill in the following information. This information is for my own
personal use, since I've been following the net for some time, and it is
unclear to me whether anyone is actually completing any robots.

I can summarize the information and make it available on the net, if that
interests anyone.

If you have more than one robot, please fill in seperate surveys.

=============================================================================
What is your name, email address, and fields of expertise?

What is the name of your robot?

What size is the robot? (inches please)
___ height ___ length front to back ___ width side to side

Was the basic platform scratch built, a kit, or purchased assembled?
(give name of robot and company of manufacture or source of plans)

Who developed the robot? (check one and add text if desired)
___ 1 individual, personal use robot
___ team, personal use robot
___ 1 individual, developed for work, or school
___ team, developed for work, or school
___ other, explain

How much has the robot cost to date, in man hours and U.S. dollars?

What does the robot do? (explain what task the robot does, not what features
it has, e.g. it gets the newspaper. Not it has
			 speech recognition and 3D vision.)

How is the robot controlled? (check one and provide text if desirable)
___ remote control via wires
___ remote control via the airwaves
___ it follows pre-determined programs
___ autonomous, it thinks for itself

What type of locomotion does the robot use? (i.e. tracks, two powered wheels,
and two casters, 6 legs, etc.)

What kind of computers are used? (explain low level controls, main computing
				  computer and computer languages)

How does it sense its environment? (explain, i.e. proximity, objects in its
				    path, light, sound, speech recognition,
				    grip force, compass heading, etc.)

How does it navigate its environment? (explain, i.e. how does it remember its
				       environment, what are the navigation
				       inputs, and algorithms)

Does it have an arm? (explain arm mechanics, control and successful uses)

What have your successes been? (explain the ideas or concepts used in the
robot that you are the most proud of)

What things would you do differently? (explain the decisions that you would
				       make differently next time)

What contests has your robot been entered in, and how did it go?

What robot club do you belong to? (give name, address and BBS number)

In this section give any other interesting information not covered above.

Would you like a summary of this info supplied on the net?
___ yes ___ no ___ don't care If the ratio of yes to total responses
is >= 66% I will summarize on the net.

Is this information confidential? (check one)
___ yes ___ no If yes, I will not use the information in any public way,
it will be excluded from the summary.

If the information is highly confidential, do not fill out
		 this survey.

THANKS your for your inputs!!!
