The General Instruments SPO256 speech synthesizer is no longer being
manufactured and is very difficult to find. One alternative to the
G.I. chip set is the Zernex TSP470CN. It is a text to speech module
that accepts serial data and converts it to speech.

I don't have a direct number for Zernex (if you do please let me know),
but the chip and circuit board are available at U.S. Cyberlab, Inc.
501 839-8293. I believe the price is around $90.
