I am also interested in this.  I have seen an application note in an ATMEL
programmable logic data book which you might want to look at.  That design
uses a Samsung ADC and Sony RAM and an ATMEL device for control.  A UK
company called VVL has a miniature board, they call it the IMPUTER, which
looks like 35x50 mm in size from a photo on their data sheet.  However, it
is expensive.
