If you are interested in robotics from a hardware point of view, as
opposed to simulations, then the book 'Mobile Robots Inspiration to
Implementation' by Joseph Jones and Anita Flynn is an excellent introduction.
The book covers motors to microprocessor control with a lot of info on
various sensing techniques. Plenty of practical background information
and then specifics on one specific implementation.

The book is published by A K Peters, 289 Linden St.,Wellesley, MA 02181
