There are a bunch of different manufacturers doing their own thing and 
another bunch who have standardised on the format.  To be sure you will 
have to see which IC is being used.  It may be easier to open the remote 
rather than the TV.

Genearlly speaking you don't just get a pulsed IR source, more often than 
not they are modulated at say 40kHz and then this modulated signal is 
pulsed on and off.

Ring the TV service sentre nearest you for more data.
