If you use LEDS to reflect light into a photometer try using just a red, green and
blue LED.  This would make the final product small (if size is of concern).  I
recently purchased some blue LEDS from Electronic Goldmine (but this was not a
constant supply).  They worked well but were a bit directional (ie the light was
not very diffuse).
