A friend an i would love to network our two home computers. But he lives on
the 28th floor of one building, and i live on the 2nd of another. My
question
is, is it legal, or fesable to install a cable from our two windows that
would
go across the street? That would probably be the cheapest setup, but we're
afraid of legal problem. So then we though a direct microwave, or laser
connection would be better. But the quality of connection could be a problem
right? anyone had any experience with this? I guess the question is how much
power to put in our signal, i.e. enouf to have a good connection in any
weather, and not enouf to fry any birds flying by! :)

hummm... any ideas?

btw, we live in downtown Montreal, Canada.

also, would any of our setups be legal without any special permits?

here's a fast drawing of our situation:
