In the latest ad from Timeline, Inc, there is a description of a Proxim
Spread Spectrum RF modem capable of 19.2k full duplex communication at
a distance of 500'. The description states that these units originally
sold for $600 each.

Two would be required for bi-directional full-duplex communication, but
at less than $200 that still sounds like a too-good-to-be-true deal.

I am considering purchasing a pair for use in communication between my
robot and my base PC, but I was curious if anyone knows anything about
these units before putting out $200. If you do, please email me (or post
here) any past experiences. Alternatively, if you know of other sources
for units in this price range, please let me know.

Thanx.
