     I think the $995 board really exists, but the $10 part won't
exist at that price unless somebody orders many thousands of them.

     Actually, I hope somebody like TI starts doing more-integrated
versions of their CCD image sensors.  They make nice sensors, but the 
support circuits are complex and too TV-oriented.

     Ian Horswill at MIT did a neat design for a low-cost all-digital
vision board, as part of his PhD, but he graduated and it never became
a product.  A $100 board is realistic for this function.
