I still am not convinced of the value of splitting comp.robotics. However,
some of the sub-groups which have been suggested which I like are:

comp.robotics.research
comp.robotics.homebrew
comp.robotics.industrial

The reason I don't think a split is a good idea (besides the *relative* low
traffic) is that I wouldn't know where to look for my favorite subjects.

For example, does a PUMA arm fall under industrial or research (is it
industrial or research)? How about a RHINO arm (is it research or
homebrew)?

Just a thought... would it make sense to keep comp.robotics whole, but
proceed our messages with a code (i.e., RES for research, HOME for
homebrew, IND for industrial)? This way, the reader could easily see the
poster's intended audience. I realize this might be a pain, and new-comers
would be confused.

Just an idea!

I'm a big fan of not re-inventing the wheel. What are those in other groups
doing when they want to be diverse, yet specific... attract a large
audience, yet tend to the needs of the small groups?

Gosh... what are the people in sci.electronics doing?

sci.electronics.powersupplies
sci.electronics.vaccumntubes
sci.electronics.diodes
sci.electronics.electrons
sci.electronics.probes

etc..

Any respones?

Clint
