Hi, I am in search of a gantry-like robot for use in computer vision
research. The robot should have a workspace of approximately
1.2m(4ft) x 2.4m(8ft) x 0.8m(2.6ft) with 6 DOF. The system will be
attached to the top of an optical table.

The payload will be a CCD/MOS type video camera less than 1kg(2.2lbs).

The system will be used to simulate motions generated by helicopters
and other types of aircraft. The robot controller need not be a
dynamic controller. The robot will mainly be a positioning tool not a
dynamics mimicking tool.

If you have any pointers to companies who make such systems please
email me. I have talked to Yaskawa about the RobotWorld system but
its workspace is limited and it is geared towards high precision/20+
axis tasks using multiple coordinated 4 axis 'bots. Not quite the
right thing for my application.
