I know electronics but I haven't built anything in years. I'm looking
to build a robot based on a robot build by a member of the Roboto Group
in Austin Tx.

I'm looking for a book that can refresh me on the current tech for driving
DC motors. I know what a FET is and PWM so given that, what are the best
chips, how can I find their spects and ......

I'd like to build a bread board model of a computer driven motor (no feed
back loop) just to get me started.
