I am looking for information concerning stepper motors. I am looking
for a commercially-available (as opposed to scrounged) stepper motor
which satisfies the following requirements:

-- high step resolution (1 degree per step or finer)
-- unipolar
-- relatively small size (less than 5 inches diameter)
-- moderate torque (difficult to stop by grasping rotating shaft)
-- relatively low cost ($20 each in quantities of 100)

The motor is to be used in a product my company is manufacturing.
I have tried motors from the Hurst company which are geared and have
a final step resolution of 0.1 degree. The problem with these motors
is that there is approximately 1 degree of slop in the geartrain, and
this is unacceptable for my application. Any comments or suggestions
you would have concerning manufacturers or part numbers would be
much appreciated.

best regards,
