It's really pleasant to see someone bringing some "interesting" discussions
to this newsgroup :). I strongly agree with this call for research oriented
articles to appear here, since it is usally hard, and more often than not
expensive, for researchers to keep up-to-date with ongoing research all over
the globe either by attending conferences or buying proceedings of those;
let alone "poor" students!!

If I may suggest, I'd encourage any researcher in the field to make available
their recent publications (conference papers, journal papers, thesis, or
technical reports) for other people on this newsgroup by ftp or any similar
way.. It would help greatly.

As a way of doing what I preach, I can make available any of the following
upon request: A masters thesis from Carleton Univ., Canada, about
"A Blackboard Activity-Based Control Architecture for the NAvigation of
Autonomous Mobile Robots", a related paper in IROS'92, and a related paper
in R&A'93.

This is not to be taken as a lack of interest in current issues on this
newsgroup, but more as an incentive for more participants and more diversified
discussions.
