Hi all out there!

I was wondering what kind of building materials you use or would suggest
for a broke hobbiest. I was looking in some Sears catolouges and I saw
some Mechanno. I also have some from when I was a kid. I am interested
in making a variety of robots to do some simple things, basically walk,
avoid, maybe a few more complicated things. It seems to me that mechanno
would be a good choice but I'm not sure how much I could do with it.
Also there are many different sets of mechanno available and the more
expesive ones come with a 6V motor and gears. Should I pay the extra
bucks and get the gears or work that out on my own?

I'm also really interested in insect type robots, specifcally six-legged
ones and how one would go about getting the thing to walk and turn.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Bye,

Ray
