Most activity is in tertiary institutions or the CSIRO.

The following are presented in no particular order, except my group is
first.

Mobile robots:
Intelligent Robotics Research Centre
Monash University, Clayton Campus, Melbourne.
Prof. R. A. Jarvis

Comp. Sci. Dept.,
University of Wollongong,
Chris Cook's group,

Industrial (robot arms etc.)

UWA
James Trevellian's group (or speak to Peter Kovesi in Comp.Sci).

Robotics and Digital Technology
Monash University, Caulfield Campus, Melbourne

CSIRO department of manufacturing technology,
Preston, Melbourne.

There are, ofcourse, others but these are probably the best known.

If you get in touch with Dr. Trevellian or Dr. Kovesi, they will be able to
point you in the right direction.

Regards,

Kemal Ajay.
