Motorola has had trouble keeping up with the demand for these things
for as long as the chip has been available, about three years now. I
wish they would get their act together and just make more of them.

In general, my experience/recommendations for finding the chip is the
following:

1. Don't believe that it's not available just because supplier XX is
out of stock. When supplier XX is out of stock, they are generally
uninformed about when they will be getting more stock.

2. To find out who you can buy the chip from, call Motorola's
national toll free number and ask them for the number for your
regional sales office. Then call the regional sales office and ask
them, "Who are my local distributors for Motorola parts?"

3. Now call each of these people and ask them if they have stock.
Make sure that you have the exact part number, because if you don't,
they will generally be unable to help you figure out what you're
really looking for. (Chris, the part number you have in the Subject
header is exactly correct.)

4. If you go through the entire list of local suppliers
unsuccessfully, the situation might indeed be dismal. At this point a
call to Motorola headquarters would be in order.

Anywhere from upper teens ($17) to low twenties each.

Good luck finding the chip!!! If you find any I'm sure the net
population would be grateful if you put together a group order.

Best,
