The 26th International Symposium on Industrial Robotics will be held in
Singapore from 4-6 October 1995. The theme of 26th ISIR is "Competitive
Automation: New Frontiers, New Opportunities". About 120 papers from 25
countries will be presented during the symposium in 21 sessions.

The three keynote speakers for the three plenary sessions are, Dr.
Engelberger, Prof. Hasegawa and Dr. Reis from Germany. There will also be
a plenary session organised by International Federation of Robotics
(IFR); this is a special panel discussion lead by Dr. Engelberger,
and the panel members are S. Demark (CEO of ABB Flexible Automation), E.
Mittelstadt (CEO of FANUC Robotics, North America, USA), Prof. T. Aria
from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo, Japan, and a
prominent person from Singapore familiar with the local automation scene.
The title of this session is "The Future of Robotics - Will the
Development in Asia be different from the development in the Western World?"

The symposium covers recent research and development works in the following
areas in Robotics:
control, dynamics, kinematics, applications, emerging technologies,
sensors and peripherals, robotics in manufacturing, business and
management issues, robot vision, etc.

There are also factory visit and other programmes.

During the symposium, three prestigious awards will be presented:
the Engelberger Award, the Golden Robot Award sponsored by ABB Robotics
and the JIRA Award sponsored by the Japan Industrial Robot Association.

In addition, our island country, Singapore and her surrounding neighbours
have many tourist attraction. You may wish to consider taking a trip
here to attend the symposium and thereafter to visit the various exotic
