Computer Aided Engineering of Industrial Robot (CAEIR)
       ------------------------------------------------------

Fields of Applications
----------------------

- Design of CIM, FMS

- Mechanical engineering (Design of Robots, Machine-tools, Wheeled
  transport means, Legged transport etc.)

- Building (Design of multi-links constructions).

Description of functions
------------------------

Package CAEIR realizes the initial stage of design for controlled
mechanisms and building constructions, formed of systems of bodies by
using computer simulation. Typical computer simulation involves
numerical solution of direct and inverse dynamic, kinematic, and
geometric tasks for mechanisms and buildings. For this purpose, CAEIR
enables users to realize the following functions though a dialog mode:

1. To form computer models (dynamic, kinematic, geometric) of
a wide range of kinematic mechanisms. These models use a
kinematic scheme, which is a particular case of tree-like
structures formed by bodies connected by joints with angular or
linear displacement. There is a possibility to widen the range of
modeled mechanisms at the expense of imposing on the mechanisms,
    holonomic and non-holonomic constraints.
2. To form models of information and control systems of
    controlled mechanisms.
3. To realize different computer experiments with the modeled
mechanisms for the purpose of research or to utilize the model's
    choice of parameters for robot.
4. To display the results of experiments in the form of tables and
    graphics, including 3D graphics.
5. To create data banks of mechanical models, constructions and
parameters of typical computer experiments for further use.
6. To change (edit) parameters taken from the data banks of model and
    computer experiments.

Technical data
--------------

- It is possible to use CAEIR on a i486 PC and more productive PC's.
- System platform is MS DOS v. 3.3. In accordance with the desires of
customers it is possible to run CAEIR in Windows.
- Body of Package uses FORTRAN-77.
- Package allow the user to simulate mechanisms with 120 degrees of
freedom (120 differential equations) and 120 constraints (algebraic
  equations of constraints).

CAEIR are used by Central Institute of Robotics, Institute of
Powerful Tools and by other firms.
