Helpful Hints and Application Guidelines

Before you fill out the application, please read these helpful hints. We
hope they will make the process easier for you.

1. When estimating expenses, base your travel on advance purchase/Saturday
night stayover tickets and your accommodation on sharing a room at
the conference hotel. USENIX will help find a roommate for you. For
tutorial and technical sessions fees, check with Diane DeMartini
(diane@usenix.org) before filling in the amounts. Stipends do not cover
    membership fees or CEU credits.

2. Get your application in on time. Late applications will not be
considered. Allow enough time for postal mail to reach us.

3. Only original, paper applications, completely filled-out, will be
considered. Incomplete applications or those submitted without the
    required documents will be rejected.

4. Preference is shown to:

(a) student volunteers who actively work on the conference (e.g.
     presenters, terminal room volunteers, registration).

(b) first-time applicants and those who have not received a grant in
     the past 12-months.

(c) students from institutions not traditionally represented at USENIX.

(d) students whose areas of interest significantly overlap with the
     conference topic.

(e) students who are presenting papers.

(f) minority and underrepresented students.
