I was among those people who predicted the DOOMSDAY for Smalltalk IF something
would not be changed. I wrote that PP and Digitalk SHOULD NOT forget all those
people, who supported them during more than 10 years, even if most people didn't
realize the POWER of SMALLTALK. A good sign is the free Smalltalk called SE.
Nothing new, quite outdated, but good for people having a desire to learn
Smalltalk. Even if VW would be more appropriate Smalltalk to learn. VW is a
antique good Smalltalk, that despite its age is very OO. It has very good
things, that are not present in SE.
Anyway, the new direction in Smalltalk (if it wants to survive) will be a
Smalltalk tightly working with the host OS. Forget platform binary portability.
It is a joke. Take a look at Smalltalk MT, Smalltalk/X etc.
So the DOOMSDAY will not come if we will not expect impossible from Smalltalk.

Shortly I am going to start a WEB site dedicated to success and horror stories
of Smalltalk. Please submit ASAP. Some graphics can be included.

Three COMPLETELY different development systems.

Sometimes it is possible to change the DESTINY.
