I am currently writing a proposal to gain funding to purchase GemStone
for the purpose of serving meteorological and oceanographic data,
ultimately over the Web. My question is whether or not any of you are
using GemStone or any other object database within the U.S. Government.
I'm specifically interested in users within the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, but actually any use within the U.S.
Government, or any use for meteorological and oceanographic purposes
would be of help to me. I would very much appreciate hearing of any use
along these lines, and why you chose to use an object database, as
oppposed to an object-relational database (like Illustra).

Many thanks for your time. I hope I can be of help to you in the
future.

        Sincerely yours,
