Smalltalk is definitely becoming more popular.  The biggest users are
MIS shops that have large COBOL programs to manage large databases and
wish to convert to a newer technology.  It's much easier to teach
their COBOL programmers Smalltalk than C++ and Smalltalk is usually
better suited to their applications.
