Seems like my original question still stands it mainly being used for
building developemnt tools and as a scripting language. You did name a
couple people using Smalltalk for commericial applications, but not much.

And you said for embedded use, come on are they burning ROMS the size of
wedding cakes. An enviroment that like to do everything dynamicly being
embedded, WHO is doing this.

No I not trying to start flames I trying to get realistic answers to what
people are doing with Smalltalk. Is this just a fad, or something worth
spending some cycles on. Smalltalk is getting a lot of press lately but
mainly as the scripting language for visual programming tools or how fast it
is to prototype or write front ends with.

Just wondering...

: You are just trying to attract flames, right? I know of at least
: five companies using Smalltalk to build CASE tools (Anderson Consulting,
: Motorola, Ascent Logic, ObjectTime, and Peter Coad's company), a couple
: using it for automating factories (TI and HP), one using it for building
: neural nets for scheduling (Behavioristics), a couple using it for
: building embedded systems for instruments (Tektronix and HP), as well
: as a slew using it for information systems of various sorts, which seems
: to be the most popular use at the moment. See the lists of companies
