I am not sure that 1.1.1 is the latest. I am using GNU Smalltalk 1.2,
which I found using an archie search. It is listed as being updated
in 1992. If you cannot find it this way, let me know and I'll let you
make a (free) copy available.

I am really curious as to how much the Free Software Foundation (GNU)
is supporting Smalltalk. I don't expect it to get as many revisions
as their good C++ stuff, but they have revised scheme, etc more often.

Steve Byrne originated it, but I also wonder if he is still doing
any modifications to it. If not, the Free Software Foundation
should line up other folks to maintain/update it. Its actually
a pretty nice implementation (no flames from folks who found it
lacking the Smalltalk interface outside of stix - the absence
makes it easier to put your own advanced interface into it...)

Steve Byrne lists his email as sbb@eng.sun.com, but in the past when
I sent email there it bounced.
