I spent much of the weekend attempting to install SWI-Prolog on my
Linux box at home. No luck. Yes, I read the various README's.
Things go to hell in a hand-basket when the program hits pl-os.c.
Spouts errors like various undefined functions.
I suspect that much of the problem is an improper installation of
the readline library. But even following that is making me crazy.
The readme refers to copying a file, readline.history, I think,
that doesn't seem to exist.

Anyone who can assist in telling me what files are supposed to go
where, or can point me in the direction of precompiled versions,
I'd appreciate hearing from you.
