It depends.  If you ftp /pub/msdos/akcl-beta/{akcl,g32s}exe.zip files
from math.utexas.edu, you don't have to recompile them from scratch.

I have never tried the file mentioned in the comp.lang.lisp FAQ list:
/pub/beta2.zip file.  It seems to me the FAQ list needs to be revised.
(I have Cc'd this to the FAQ list maintainers)
