According to MacWeek, Apple has announced that it is licensing Java and
subsequently plans to incorporate it into a broad range of its products.
*cough* *cough*

Excerpt from: http://www.zdnet.com/macweek/mw_1018/news_java.html:

Apple's plans are especially broad. In a statement released this morning,
Chief Scientist Larry Tesler said the company would make Java "widely
available in its products," such as the Mac OS; Cyberdog, the company's
suite of Internet OpenDoc parts; its Internet servers; the Newton OS; and
Apple's "media-authoring technologies."
