MAC THE KNIFE

It ain't over till Dylan sings

The grim unemployment reaper cut a path through Cambridge last week like a
congressional committee hellbent on a balanced budget by Christmas.
Fortunately for the good people of Massachusetts, it was a narrow and
finely aimed cut, affecting those toiling in the vineyard of modern
language development.

A tip of the Knife's hat to the newly nuked Dylan team for setting a new
standard for performance and style under the pressure of impending doom.
The general decor was pre-Halloween, accessorized by T-shirts proclaiming,
"The power to cancel your very best" on the front. The backside bore the
image of a Hula browser listing the team members, overlaid with a dialog
box asking, "Are you sure you want to cancel the entire Cambridge lab?"
with the Cancel button highlighted.

Ah, but there's life in Dylan yet, believe it or not. Carnegie Mellon
University's The Gwydion Project and Harlequin have Unix and Windows
flavors of Dylan up their respective sleeves.
