I'm looking for information on the packing of rectangular panes to be
cut from larger sheets - as this is in glass, every cut must go right
across a piece, cuts may not go round corners. I need to optimise for
minimum wastage (and perhaps convenient cutting plans, useful offcuts,
and so on).

Any references, titles or algorithms would be most welcome
(otherwise I'll have to work it out for myself). I'm sure this problem
must have received some study somewhere.
