Hello,

Does anybody have any references to papers which deal with solving the
Maximum Utility Problem, either heuristically or by finding an optimal
solution?

The Maximum Utility Problem is a CSP problem with an utility function which
assigns a 'worth' to each constraint. The goal is to satisfy a subset of the
constraints such that the sum of the 'worths' of its constraints is maximized.
This is one way to model constraints with priorities.

	Thanks, F.J.
