			    CALL FOR PAPERS
			World Aviation Congress (WAC)

Call for papers on Aerospace Design Automation

The WAC is a joint SAE/AIAA event to be held at
The Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles Airport -- October 22-24, 1996.

Aerospace Design Automation:
----------------------------

Aerospace Design Automation is the science of automating the aerospace design
process. The design process requires collaborative efforts of the
aircraft/aerospace vehicle operator, manufacturer, subsystem vendors etc.
Complex software systems are used in such a design process. To realize an
aerospace vehicle design, often concurrent and synchronized usage of design
tools is required. To enable concurrent usage and inter-operability, design
tools are required to inter-communicate. Issues related to design of aerospace
design systems for concurrent usage, inter-operabiltity of design tools,
sharing of design, process and status information between design systems and
tools etc. are part of aerospace design automation.

This is the first time a session is being organized to address the specifics
of designing aerospace design systems. Parallels in other engineering areas
already exist (for instance see http://www.dac.com ).

Extended abstracts of suggested papers on the state-of-the-art in aerospace
design automation (suggested sub-topics are mentioned below) are invited for
review.

Suggested Topics:
-----------------

Aerospace vehicle design methodologies and their realization in form of design
systems. Design for concurrent access. Design for asynchronous/synchronous
access. Design of application programming interfaces for aircraft design
representation. Aerospace design system architectures. Engineering transactions
in aerospace design tools. Frameworks for aerospace vehicle design. Tool
integration and interoperability. Design system vs design tool interface,
its performance and its impedance. Partitioning of design, process and
status objects/data/information. Application of constraint imperative
languages for the modeling of design systems. etc. etc.

Deadline for Extended Abstracts:	April 5, 1996.
