Sorry for the stupid question, but I really am stumped.

I found the ftp site, and the exectuable file Emacs-1.17.sit.bin.
However, when I ftp it to my machine, I can't seem to be able to
decode it. Stuffit can't unbinhex it, and it doesn't run as it is.
What does one have to do with .bin files to read them?
