No, I haven't heard of Dr. Edward Reingold, but I'm wondering why
you care whether anybody has. This posting seems rather vindictive
and motivated by personal dislike for Dr. Reingold (excuse me if I've
gotten the wrong impression) and might be considered slander in some
circles. I don't see the point of posting something like this on the
Internet.

By the way, I don't think it is appropriate to assume things about a
person's intelligence or ability to teach on the basis of where they
studied. People often have wide and varied reasons for choosing to
attend one university over another. I myself chose to go to a less
well-known university for my undergraduate work because I thought I
would get more personal attention since it was smaller (which I did)
and because I couldn't afford the likes of MIT or CalTech. It is not
necessarily the case that your education is inferior when you study at
a less prestigious university.

Furthermore, there are very few teaching and research awards in
proportion to the number of teachers and researchers out there.
Obviously only a small proportion of teachers/researchers win such
awards, and again it is not fair to make generalizations on the basis
of these awards.

I think you should reconsider the tact and appropriateness of and
motivations behind your posting.

Yours,
Karin Verspoor
