Be careful.  This is not an image rescaling problem.  As
characters get larger, the strokes that make them up become
relatively thiner.  In fact, stroke thickness is used to
vary the bold(face) atribute.  I would suggest that you
look at the MetaFont literature that grew up with TeX, etc.

In addition, hand-writting does strange things when you vary
the size.  Try writing the same few sentences on lined paper:
(1) at one line height and (2) at two-line height.  Unless
you are unusual, you'll see why simply scaling isn't the
right technologu for this problem.
