Fragments of Behaviour: The Extensional Stance (1 - 9)

These extracts, which have been discussed and drawn upon in several threads
both here and in other related newsgroups are now available as a complete
series in sci.psychology.theory. They are drawn from a much larger document
of 12 volumes detailing a networked IT system.

Issues covered include actuarial vs clinicial judgement, formal deductive
reasoning vs heuristics, the place of Null Hypothesis Significance Testing
in psychology and the distinction between psychology & behaviour science.

These issues are discussed in the context of the presentation of a system
specification for PROfiling BEhaviour, a rDBMS developed between 1987-1994
by behaviour scientists working for the UK Prison Service.
