The Centre for AI Research of the University of Westminster is pleased
to announce vacancies for two research posts (1 Full-time Research Fellow 
and 1 Full-time Research Assistant). 

The posts are part of a new European project (HISTORIA) funded 
under the LIBRARIES initiative to develop new interactive tools for 
advanced high resolution image recognition and retrieval. 
The duration of the project is 15 months and it is expected to start 
in March 1995.

Applicants should possess, a higher degree in  Computer Science, 
working knowledge of  programming in C/C++, Unix and/or Microsoft 
Windows and experience in the  multimedia/imaging techniques.

Salary scales: 	Research Assistant:  11,088 - 14,631 pounds sterling p.a., 
		Research Fellow:     15,345 - 22,428 pounds sterling p.a. 
					(including London allowance)

RESEARCH FELLOW in Intelligent Imaging techniques. (REF 617/ES)

The post is funded for 12 months.

The appointee will be responsible for implementation and testing of 
new image filtering and image pattern recognition algorithms. 
This work will be part of the HISTORIA project, and will involve 
high-resolution colour images (up to 4000dpi).

The post holder should be able to program in C/C++ under X-Windows 
and/or MS-Windows. He/she should also be in possession of a higher 
degree in Computer Science and have research experience in 
multimedia/imaging techniques.


RESEARCH ASSISTANT in User Interface Design. (REF: 616/ES)

The post is funded for 12 months.

The appointee will be responsible for the implementation of a new 
user interface suitable for handling high-resolution images. 
The user interface should allow easy-navigation and integration of 
several forms of information onto one screen. 

The post holder should possess a first degree in Computer Science 
and be able to program in C/C++ under X-Windows and/or MS-Windows.
