CALL FOR PAPERS

The Department of Psychology, Banaras Hindu University, The Cognitive
Science Centre, McGill University, and The Cognitive Science Laboratory,
The Catholic University of America are pleased to announce the Second
International Symposium on Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Cognition to
be held in Varanasi, India from December 14-18, 1995. The theme of this
symposium will be Cognition and Education:  A Multidisciplinary
Perspective.  This symposium will provide an opportunity for the
discussion of cognitive research on a wide range of issues.  The symposium
will feature presentations on topics such as Applications  of Cognitive
Science to Instruction and Learning, Cognitive Neuroscience and Education,
Problem Solving, Cognitive Development, Computer-Assisted Instruction,
Cognitive Ergonomics, Language, Literacy, Psychophysiology, Personality
and Individual Differences, Attention, Memory, Cognitive Deficits and
Learning, Stress and Coping, Culture and Cognition. This will provide an
excellent opportunity for interactions between Western and Asian Cognitive
Scientists.

Scientific Program at the same address by March, 1, 1995. The abstracts
should be no more than 3 pages single-spaced. Participants whose
presentations are accepted will be asked to submit a full paper by June
15, 1995.  It is anticipated that the proceedings will be made available
to participants during the conference

About Varanasi (venue)
Varanasi is the cultural capital of India and it is one of the oldest
living  cities (8000 years) in the world.  It is well connected by air,
road and rail from the national capital, New Delhi and other metropolitan
centers of India.  It is located on the bank of the holy river Ganga where
all sects of Hindus throng in a most harmonious manner.  Varanasi is
located in close proximity (a 30 minute flight) to Agra, home of the
magnificent Taj Mahal. The Banaras Hindu University is located about six
Km south east of main city.   The climate in Varanasi is quite comfortable
in December with temperatures ranging from lows around 150 C (600 F) to
day time highs of 220 C (720 F).

Registration

The registration fees for the conference will be $ 550 (US funds). and $
150 for accompanying spouse/ companion.  The fee will include the
following items:

        archeological interest.
