I'm in the process of applying to universities to work on my PhD. I'd
like to do the dissertation in some area of intelligent agent
technology.

Since "intelligent agent" is a phrase that means different things to
different people, here's what I'm interested in: programs that are
capable of being given a goal and then creating plans for acheiving that
goal; programs that can learn about their environment -- about other
agents and the person using the agent -- to provide better plans and
services the longer they run; programs that are capable of altering
their behavior in response to unexpected conditions.

Can anybody point me to CSC (or other) departments where this sort of
work is going on? Please reply by email to:

Thanks in advance.
