For many years, we thought that autistic people
were unintelligent because of their seemingly random
behavior. Recently someone (I wish I could remember
his name) came up with a card with the alphabet
on it and by holding the autistic person's finger to the
card they are able to spell out words, answering
questions quite intelligently.

Very often because we fail to communicate with
a person, we assume that that person is not
intelligent (and perhaps just a "vegitable". Be
cause this is our assumption, as arogant as we
are we fail in our responsbility to communicate
in a way they may understand. Are people with
brain damage, or comotose also capable of
communicating.

This question is not only limited to people. What
intelligence is there all around us, that we fail to
realise because we arogantly limit what we will
accept as intelligent or real. By communicating
with autistic people, we have an opportunity to
grow from them. What intelligence is there in
the dolphin (if we approach her as equal, scientist
resist this concept for they must control).
Ancient cultures looked for intelligence in nature,
and we with our superior intellects scoof their
studipidity.

The problem with the turing test and all
intelligence test is their insincerity. Maybe
the burden is on the tester to find the intelligence
rather than sit it jugdment, missing opportunities
to discover new answers to old questions.

We need to question our own intelligence.
