But, I would think that it was nevertheless warranted as an instance of
"default reasoning".  We are all humans after all, and MZ's statement does
not lie in some mathematically precise domain; but in the real world.

As an outside observer, I have to say that I didn't find MZ's comments
childish or immature; a bit caustic perhaps, but there you go.  I happen
to agree with him that a deep understanding of something requires much study
of the finer details.

I am not (yet! :->) an expert in logic, but I do love it, and I find my
love for the subject grows the more fiddly bits I come to understand.
