I am looking for instances of automated use of accoustic signals (i.e., sounds)
for detecting abnormalities in mechanical/electrical systems (motors, engines),
for monitoring, preventive maintenance or diagnosis. I am especially interested
in "smart" systems, systems that can learn to distinguish between the normal
and abnormal sounds. Any information about substantial research or implemented
systems, people working in this area, issues involved, etc. will be very helpful.
Please email your responses to murthy@scr.siemens.com.

Thank you.
- Sreerama Murthy.
