One word of advice to you and any other people asking the same kind of question
- don`t let the distance be a factor. If anything, it is a good thing: part of 
the university experience is to broaden your horizons, so studying from home
is defeating the point IMHO..

As for Edinburgh, I`m doing an MSc at the Dept. of AI here and I thoroughly
recommend the department; the quality of teaching here is excellent (I took
my Chemistry BA at Oxford so I know what bad teaching is!). The city itself is
wonderful (especially at festival time). Academically, the AI and CS
department where given top (excellent) gradings in research AND teaching at
the last assessment and are respected worldwide for the quality of their
research. My advice would be attend an open day here and see for yourself.
