This question rightly belongs in a signal processing group, but I am
not aware of a suitable group. Perhaps someone could point me in the
right direction.

I am reading data from a group of 8 bit A/D converters. I can easily
obtain 10 readings per second per ADC. The variables that use the data only
need to be updated once per minute so that I have 600 readings per update.
I believe there are techniques for using this abundance of raw data to
enhance the effective resolution of the data so that it would be
effectively 9 or 10 bits. Could some kind person please direct me to:

  - a suitable (Information Theory?/DSP?) text book
  - relevant papers on industrial applications
  - any algorithms in C, Basic, or whatever
  - the correct group or ftp site where these can be found

Please email me - I am happy to summarise for the group if those who
reply recommend that it would be helpful.

Many thanks.
