RESEARCH POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The "Institut Dalle Molle d'Intelligence Artificielle
Perceptive" (IDIAP) in Martigny, Switzerland seeks to hire
qualified researchers in the areas:

        * Image processing, with applications to object
          and handwriting recognition

        * Neural network design and training, with
          applications to classification and optical
          implementation

        * Automatic speech recognition, with applications
          to vocal servers.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in
computer science or a related area.  They must be able to
conduct independent research on the basis of solid theoretical
and applied knowledge. Salaries will be aligned with those
offered by the Swiss government for equivalent positions.
Researchers are expected to begin activity by or before
September, 1995.

IDIAP is supported by the Dalle Molle Foundation along with
public-sector partners at the local and federal levels (in
Switzerland).  The institute maintains close contact with the
University of Geneva and the Polytechnical School of Lausanne.
IDIAP's computational facilities are Sun/UNIX based.  More

The town of Martigny, offering a variety of cultural activities,
is situated in the south of Switzerland, close to both France
and Italy.  It is located in a scenic Alpine region with some
of the best skiing and hiking in Europe, and is well connected
by rail and highway to the rest of Switzerland.
