Hi,

I've heard that neural nets have been used to "create" new music after
feeding them samples of existing music. I wish to experiment along these
lines. Can anyone here point me to literature on any and all applications
neural nets to music ? I possess the requisite background to read original
literature on this topic. Also what kind of NN architecture and learning
algorithms are suitable for application to music ?

Has there been any effort to combine rule based AI, and NNs, to create
a hybrid learning system and apply it to various aspects of music synthesis ?
I know there are hybrid AI systems, but none to my knowledge has been
applied to music, which by nature is higly rule based yet also very
creative.

I'd appreciate any input on this. Thanks,

- Suresh
