Arbitron's diaries are less concerned with sepcific programs than
they are with formats, and with the demographics and psychological
characteristics of those who listen to various formats. When CATPAC shows that
the therms "thank" "You" occur in the same cluster as country western formats,
then they understand something about the psychological characteristics of
country western listeners.

But why listen to me? I'll be happy to forward a copy of a paper
written
by Jim Peacock, the3 Director of Research at Arbitron, and presented to
the International Society of Broadcasters at Paris last year, if you'll give me
a snail mail address, so he can tell you what Arbitron finds useful about
CATPAC. Anyone who would like a copy, please send me a regular mail address for
hard copy. (I don't have an electronic version available to me.)

(Please excuse the typos -- I'm trying to simulate a VT320 with a
Midwest Micro Elite, and it is not working!)
