  hi all,

has anyone got any pointers to a public domain
character recognition tool. i want to do very simple recognition
of scanned in text (letter quality). preferably the tool would
accept its input as a gif, jpeg or whatever file.
any pointers actually (which could help me develop such a thing
even) would be much appreciated.

  thanks,

    filipek
